The Thomas Nelson Community College Art Department invites submissions to the Annual Student Juried Art Exhibition and Film Festival. This year work will be exhibited on the Art Gallery website. Students currently enrolled in art, graphic design, or photography programs will be asked to submit images of their 2D or 3D work and videos for Multimedia Art for consideration. The Juried Exhibition will be on display from March 19 – April 23, 2021, awards will be announced Friday, April 9th. All work must have been completed for credit courses at TNCC between March 2020 – March 2021. Work should be properly documented and fit the appropriate submission guidelines, please see details in this prospectus for more information.

Juror: Camille Donne

Camille Donne currently owns the Village Studio Arts in Newport News, VA. She teaches drawing, painting, textile arts, ceramics, fused glass, and printmaking to children, teens and adults. She is the former Education Director and Art School Director of the Peninsula Fine Arts Center.  She created PFAC’s popular camps, school programming, and outreach events for the community. She has 25 years of experience in the education field and has created engaging art programming for local libraries, museums, schools, and community organizations. Camille holds BA degrees in Psychology and Fine Arts from Christopher Newport University and is a licensed classroom teacher for grades K – 6 and licensed as a visual arts instructor for grades K – 12. 

Submission Guidelines:

Students may submit two works for consideration. They must submit the Entry Form and their files as defined below. All entries must be submitted by March 12th, 2021

(example: Student Show, Entry for Jane Doe in 2D Category)

Image requirements for 2D and 3D work:

  • Jpeg files with a minimum of 1200 pixels in width or height.
  • Files should not exceed 5MB per image.
  • Images should be labeled with artists name, entry number, and category (example: John_Doe_Entry 1_2D.Jpeg)
  • For 3D work students may submit 2 additional detail images of their project. They should label these images as details (example John_Doe_Entry 1_Detail.jpg)
  • Image should be in focus, evenly/well lit, and cropped to the edges of the work.
  • All artwork must be original and done only by the student submitting it.  

Requirements for Video, Animation, and Motion Graphics work:

  • All artwork must be original and done only by the student submitting it.
  • mov or mp4 files only in 1080 format: 1920 x 1080
  • They should be no longer than 3 minutes and the file should not exceed 128 GB.
  • Files need to be labeled with artists name, entry number, and category

(example: Jane_Doe_Entry 1_Video.mp4)
